Read Across America Day

Every year, schools around the nation celebrate Read Across America Day. This day takes place on Dr. Seuss' birthday March 2nd and it is a day to highlight the importance of reading. This year, seniors at South Plainfield High School went to the elementary schools to read a Dr. Seuss book and do a craft with the students. For the last several weeks, students in Mrs. Vigneri's English classes have been coming down to the Information Center to work on this important event. Mrs. Vigneri and I instructed the students on read-aloud techniques which included the proper way to hold a book and how to read with enthusiam. Students also researched ideas for their craft and used the library's resources to prepare. March 2nd arrived quickly and the students did an amazing job reading their books and doing their crafts with the students. The elementary kids loved having the older kids visit and the event was a success. I was very excited to be a part of this amazing day!
